The nielloed forms in this series are inspired by the dialectic between the individual gems (quartz containing rutile and dendritic elements, ferrous oxide, etc.) and the jewels that contain them.
Niello is a black-coloured metal alloy made mainly of copper, silver and lead, used as inlay on engraved metal.
the engravings on the object’s surface are made with a burin, and are then filled with this black alloy.
